The Leadership Dance

Most of our clients are highly driven, highly successful professionals. And as their career builds, challenges (and their lives) become more complex, more entangled and more demanding. Many of these can be met with the capabilities, mindset and experience they have developed along their life journey.

But sometimes that just isn’t enough. Sometimes who they are has become the limiting factor. Because the deep drive they hold come from somewhere; and the skills they have sharpened on success also may put other abilities in the shadow. Or created a disconnect between the outside and the inside. This is what deep coaching can unlock, and create a way through.

We have developed the Iceberg methodology for working that deeper layer. The metaphor is obvious: a small part of who we are sits above the waterline — our visible behaviour, our conscious thinking, the version of ourselves we can describe — and a much larger part sits below, made up of the patterns, beliefs and assumptions that drive most of what we do without our being aware of them. These subconscious layers were built, over years, from the experiences that shaped us; they are also, usually, what we keep encountering when our intentions and our actions are not congruent.

The iceberg methodology helps leaders create inner change in order to achieve new results. It is built on established psychological frameworks including systems psychodynamics (in the Tavistock and INSEAD traditions), adult development theory and applied neuroscience. And the changes tend to hold. Let us know if you are curious.
